A little warning about this post, not all of these hikes are directly in Panama. For some of these hikes, you will have to travel a tad bit outside of the city in order to get to them

Top 5 best hikes in Panama, Florida

5 – Gator Lake Trail

  • Difficulty level: Easy
  • How to get to Gator Lake Trail: Head South of Saint Andrews State Park, it’s directly beside Gator Lake
  • Time duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 10 minutes to complete this trail
  • Length: 0.5 mile
  • Elevation gain: 13 feet

  • You may be standoffish with the immediate sound of how the title of the trail can spin off the tongue. I’ll be honest, that’s the reason this is number 5. However, you should be totally okay, just be vigilant 
  • This is one marvel of a trail, it is also a loop trail which you may know by now is my favorite type of trail
  • I had to inject the Gator Lake Trail into my list of top 5 best hikes in Panama, Florida because of not only the name but because of the stunning scenery that was included with such a small walk
  • You will probably see a lot of wildlife out here. Your chances of seeing an alligator here aren’t the highest, but it’s still possible
  • There are lots of beautiful flowers here and you have the ability to walk dogs

4 – Mabel Porter Pond Trail

  • Difficulty level: Easy
  • How to get to Mabel Porter Pond Trail: This trail is very North of Panama City, it’s East of Crystal Lake. It’s just off Highway 20, on the trail after Granger Plantation Road
  • Time duration of hike: The average person takes a tad bit over 1 hour to complete this trail
  • Length: 3.6 miles
  • Elevation gain: 124 feet

  • You are going to fall in love with this little lovely trail
  • The chance of you seeing other people on this trail is low, so if you don’t like being around many people… head for this trail
  • You will experience a variety of emotions when you go on this trail especially if you pursue it directly after a hefty rain storm. Needless to say, I do not recommend this trail directly after a rain storm
  • This trail is very well marked and it is a supremely elegant trip outside of the cities

3 – St. Andrews State Park Loop

  • Difficulty level: Easy
  • How to get to St. Andrews State Park Loop: You will find this trail in the direct South Western corner of Saint Andrews State Park. You will find a lot of signs
  • Time duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 10 minutes to complete this incredibly long trail
  • Length: 0.5 miles
  • Elevation gain: 6 feet
  • More information: St. Andrews State Park Loop
  • A large part of the reason St. Andrews State Park Loop is on my list of top 5 best hikes in Panama, Florida is that… it’s a loop trail! Loop trails are my favorite!
  • Feel free to walk dogs here, partake in a hike with your kids, go camping, or even go running
  • The best times to pursue this hike would be in the morning and evening since at times it can feel boiling hot over here
  • Some people have said this was the best trail they ever hiked, particularly in terms of the direct environmental views
  • Your chance of seeing people on this trail is quite high so if you don’t mind people, come on over!

2 – Lynn Haven Green Trail

  • Difficulty level: Easy
  • How to get to The Lynn Haven Green Trail: Head North of Brannonville, off of highway 2321 right before the bridge
  • Time duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 5 whole minutes to complete this trail
  • Length: 0.3 miles
  • Elevation gain: 3 feet
  • More information: Lynn Haven Green Trail
  • One doesn’t have the ability to regret a trip to the beautiful Lynn Haven Green Trail
  • This is another trail that has the elegant loop style which is why I had to include it in my top 5 best hikes in Panama, Florida
  • While this may be the shortest hike on the list, it certainly stands tall and mighty as a gorgeous hike
  • Also, make no mistake, you will still have to get to what is considered the trail and this will take some extra time.
  • You probably won’t see many people on your trek over here, it can be a very private hike

1 – Lynn Haven Blue Trail

  • Difficulty level: Easy
  • How to get to The Lynn Haven Blue Trail: Just like the trail above, this trail is off Highway 2321 
  • Time duration of hike: The average person takes roughly half an hour to complete this trail
  • Length: 1.3 miles
  • Elevation gain: 6 feet
  • More information: Lynn Haven Blue Trail
  • This trail is very similar to The Lynn Haven Green trail. This trail is simply one hundred times better
  • Though you are more likely to encounter fellow human beings on this trail, it will also give you more bang for your buck in terms of experiences
  • There are restrooms, lots of parking, a playground, a fitness track, mountain biking is available, and the trails are incredibly spacious
  • The only bad things about this trail is that shade can be rare and the trail markers can be a bit difficult to see at times
  • The reason this is the number one choice in my list of top 5 best hikes in Panama, Florida is the utter elegance of this trail along with the beautiful mixture of wildlife and flowers
