5 – Upper Myakka Lake Loop
- Difficulty: Moderate
- How to get to The Upper Myakka Lake Loop: Head South East of Sarasota, get on Highway 72 until you reach Park Drive. Continue on Park Drive until you reach the furthest point
- Duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 3 hours to complete this trail
- Trail length: 10.2 miles
- Elevation: 62 feet
- More information: Upper Myakka Lake Loop
- Don’t worry, this is the longest trail on the entire list. However, don’t worry because there is little to no elevation on this trail
- State Park does charge a fee to enter, if you are going to be here for a long time, you may want to get the Florida State Parks Annual Pass
- You probably won’t see too many people on this trail, and you will feel as if you are out in nature
- When it comes to Sarasota trails you aren’t going to regret coming here.
- The trail markers are clearly marked. However, you may run into spots that are overgrown and underwater
4 – Deep Hole Trail
- Difficulty: Easy
- How to get to The Deep Hole Trail: Follow the same directions as the above trial. However, with this hike, take the right onto Lower Lake Ct
- Duration of hike: The average person takes around 1 hour to complete this trail
- Trail length: 4.4 miles
- Elevation: 26 feet

- You will need to obtain a permit to access this trail because it leads to an alligator entrenched hole, sounds exciting, right?
- You are nearly guaranteed to see a lot of alligators and many different kinds of birds on this hike
- If you enjoy walking on sand, you’ll love this because it’s a sandy hike
- In terms of Sarasota trails, you cannot go wrong with this marvelously unique deep hole trail
- It’s not the smallest hike on the planet. However, with it existing with such a low elevation, things will go quicker than anticipated
3 – Heron’s Nest Northern Loop
- Difficulty: Easy
- How to get to The Heron’s Nest Northern Loop: Head North East of Sarasota, and get on Highway 70 until you reach Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. Then take a left on Summerfield Parkway all the way to the end and it’ll be on your right
- Duration of hike: The average person takes around 16 whole minutes to finish this trail
- Trail length: 0.9 miles
- Elevation: 9 feet

- If you love the sound of this trail, there’s a high probability that you will be obsessed with this trail
- With an entire 9 feet of elevation on a less than 1-mile trail… How could you go on without visiting the marvelous Heron’s Nest loop?
- This is a short and sweet trail you can do with minimal time. I didn’t just put this on my list of top 5 hiking trails in Sarasota, Florida because it’s short and sweet. To put it simply, this trail is breathtakingly beautiful
- The trail is marked clearly, there will be lots of shade areas, and by the time you are at the end you will wish it was much longer
- When one talks about Sarasota trails, you must bring up the utter elegance of Heron’s Nest
2 – Rothenbach Hammock Loop Trail
- Difficulty: Easy
- How to get to The Rothenbach Hammock Loop Trail: Head a bit South East of Sarasota, get on Interstate Highway 75 until you reach 758 (Bee Ridge Road) continue on Bee Ridge Road until you see signs
- Duration of hike: The average person takes around 50 minutes to complete this trail
- Trail length: 2.7 miles
- Elevation: 22 feet
- More information: Rothenbach Hammock Loop Trail
- This travel is one of the loveliest trails I’ve ever been on, and it’s not just because it’s a loop trail
- If you are looking for a shady trail, look no further because The Rothenbach Hammock Trail is one of the best trails around to go on during hot and sunny days. Though I will warn you, the entire trail isn’t in the shade.
- This trail includes a playground, large pavilion, and bathrooms
- The diversity of the incredible amount of scenic areas on this trail will always leave you guessing at what you are going to find in the next 5 feet
- I was forced to put this on my list of top 5 hiking trails in Sarasota, Florida due to the overall uniqueness of the trail, the views, and the wildlife
1 – South Lido Trail
- Difficulty: Easy
- How to get to The South Lida Trail: Head West of Sarasota, get on Highway 789, go straight into Ben Franklin Drive and follow it until the end.
- Duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 20 minutes to complete this trail
- Trail length: 1.2 miles
- Elevation: 3 feet

- I finally give you my favorite trail anywhere around the Sarasota area, this trail is going to knock your socks off
- In terms of Sarasota Trails, this to me is the ultimate trail among all societies. It’s only about 1 mile long with 3 feet of elevation. It includes some of the best scenery I’ve ever seen anywhere around Sarasota.
- This is also another great trail for those hot days considering how shaded the overall trail is
- One of my favorite things to do here is to find and collect shells along the shore
- Remember that even if it rains during the previous day the trail is going to be in superb condition given the circumstances
- Be prepared to encounter and enjoy a large variety of incredible wildlife
- The only item that could be considered in bad nature when it comes to this trail is how quickly you will traverse it
