These are in my opinion some of the best trails on the planet, let alone in Mexico City, Mexico. I left a few unknown hiking trails on my list to spice things up.

5. Circuito Los Dinamos – Miradores – Cieneguillas
- Difficulty: Moderate
- How to get to Circuito Los Dinamos – Miradores – Cieneguillas: Head South West of Mexico City, South West of Parque Nacional Lomas de Padierna. Follow the Camino a los Dinamos de Contreras and you will eventually see it
- Duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 6 hours to complete this trail
- Trail length: 10.2 miles
- Elevation: 2,874 feet

- We’re going to start this list off with a beautiful loop trail, you will not only encounter a lot of elevation on this trail but a lot of very interesting areas
- One of the negatives about this trail, in particular, is that it can be tough to follow the trail markers. You have to be more attentive to trail markers on this hike compared to many others
- Traversing the contraption that is the trail markers is worth it considering the high-tier views you will witness on this hike
- You will encounter a gorgeous dam with incredibly clear water on this hike
4. Pico del Águila – Cruz del Marqués via El Albergue
- Difficulty: Moderate
- How to get to Pico del Águila – Cruz del Marqués via El Albergue: Head South West of Mexico City on the Carretera Picacho Ajusco until you get to The Parque Nacional Cumbres del Ajusco and you will see the trail
- Duration of hike: This trail will take you nearly 4 hours to complete on average
- Trail length: 4.4 miles
- Elevation: 2,342 feet
- More information: Pico del Águila – Cruz del Marqués via El Albergue
- This is one big deal of a hike, this trail alone will raise your standards when it comes to hiking
- Out of this entire list, you will have the highest probability of seeing other hikers on this trail. So if you don’t like to be around people, this may not be the trail for you
- One wonderful thing about this trail is that there may be the highest guarantee of a great time with astonishingly scenic views
- When it comes to hiking near Mexico City, one must visit this trail at least once
- The second half of the trail could definitely be classified as rocky, so be ready for that
3. Cuarto Dinamo – La Cascada – Valle Marlboro
- Difficulty: Moderate
- How to get to Cuarto Dinamo – La Cascada – Valle Marlboro: Similar to that of the last trail, head South West of Mexico City. Get on the Camino a los Dinamos de Contreras until you are a bit past Desierto de los Leones – Dinamos – Ajusco. You will see the trail
- Duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 4 and a half hours to complete this trail
- Trail length: 6.7 miles
- Elevation: 2,234 feet
- More information: Cuarto Dinamo – La Cascada – Valle Marlboro
- If you are into elegance, you’ll enjoy this trail considering it includes a quaint waterfall
- Aside from hiking, you can go camping and mountain biking on this trail
- The only negative when it comes to this trail is that there is garbage on the road
- If you are hiking near Mexico City, you have many options for good trails but missing out on this one would be an unfortunate event
- A little piece of trivia is that this was actually the first National Park in all of Mexico
2. Las Monjas
- Difficulty: Easy
- How to get to Las Monjas: Head on interstate highway 15D and follow it until you get to La Bolsa near the big intersection. The entrance will be on your left before La Bolsa
- Duration of hike: The average person takes around 2 hours to complete this trail
- Trail length: 3.4 miles
- Elevation: 951 feet

- Behold, this is the easiest trail on the list so if you are a beginner when it comes to hiking. I would advise you to most definitely check this beauty out
- Additional things you can do on this trail besides hike include mountain biking, walking dogs, wildlife and viewing historical sites
- If you are low on time and plan on hiking near Mexico City, come on over and check this trail out. It’s the shortest and easiest trail on the entire list.
- Another brilliantly positive artifact about this trial is that it’s also a loop trail
- You do have another option besides following the exact path, you can walk directly on the side of the river and enjoy a different scenery
1. Cerro San Miguel
- Difficulty: Hard
- How to get to Cerro San Miguel: Head South West of Mexico City (big surprise) Get on Interstate Highway 15D until you reach Caretera La Venta – Santa Rosa then follow that until you see signs for the trail
- Duration of hike: On average this trail is completed in roughly 6 and a half hours
- Trail length: 9.8 miles
- Elevation: 3,343 feet
- More information: Cerro San Miguel
- From the easiest trial… to the hardest. That’s right this is what I would classify as the toughest trail on the list. If you are seeking a challenge, a challenge you shall find my tenacious friends
- This may be the most difficult trail on the list but you will endure some wonderful treasures shall you complete this trek
- You are more likely to encounter mountain bikers than actual hikers on this trail
- Arguably the best view on the entire trail is at the end, on top of the hill, so try not to quit too early, unless you need to of course.
- Many people mentioned that poles helped them on this trial, to a significant degree
