Welcome to what includes my absolute favorite top 5 hiking trails in Belize. I’ve tried to appease everyone so I have included challenging courses along with easy trails in this list. Without further ado, these are in my opinion the best hikes in Belize

5. Billy barquedier waterfall and observation tower

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • How to get to Billy barquedier waterfall and observation tower: Head South East of Belize on the Hummingbird Highway, once you are past Valley Community, turn when you reach The Billy Barquedier National Park Visitor Center
  • Duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 2 hours to complete this trail
  • Trail length: 2.0 miles
  • Elevation: 1,125 feet
  • More information: Billy Barquedier Waterfall and Observation Tower 
  • This is one of the most unique and intricate trails around, possibly even on the planet. I would highly recommend this trail
  • The trail includes waterfalls, wildlife, and many varieties of birds
  • When it comes to the best hikes in Belize, I felt forced to put this trail as it’s so unique and interesting
  • This is the preferred hike for many people in terms of hiking in Belize

4. Tiger Fern Trail

  • Difficulty: Hard 
  • How to get to Tiger Fern Trail: Head South East of Belize toward Maya Centre. Follow Kendall Road the entire way
  • Duration of hike: This trail will most likely take you at least 2 hours
  • Trail length: 3.4 miles
  • Elevation: 964 feet
  • More information: Tiger Fern Trail 
  • This is probably the most difficult trail on my list. However, I do say that lightly because it’s not extremely difficult
  • I would highly recommend bringing anti-bug material because there is no shortage of bugs when it comes to this trail
  • This is another hiking trail that is filled with gorgeous falling water, when you get to the peak of this trail you won’t know what to do with the spontaneous transcendence of atmosphere

3. Xunantunich Ruins

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • How to get to Xunantunich Ruins: Head all the way West of Belize towards San José Succotz. From there head North on Xunantunich Road and follow it to the end 
  • Duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 20 whole minutes to complete
  • Trail length: 0.8 mile
  • Elevation: 101 feet
  • More information: Xunantunich Ruins
  • If you tend to enjoy the historical perspective of the world, you are going to adore this trail
  • I would consider this trail to be the easiest on the list. If you are a beginner when it comes to hiking don’t hesitate to come on over to The Xunantunich Ruins
  • For the best hikes in Belize, I would consider this top tier when it comes to the easiest trails
  • Another positive when it comes to this trail is that it’s a loop trail, which of course is my favorite type of trail

2. Antelope Falls

  • Difficulty: Hard
  • How to get to Antelope Falls: Go South East of Belize, North of Silk Grass. Take a left off Southern Highway towards The Mayflower Bocawina National Park and you will see it  
  • Duration of hike: The average person takes around 
  • Trail length: 1.9 mile
  • Elevation: 643 feet
  • More information: Antelope Falls 
  • This is an incredibly well-marked trail and most of the path you will wonder why it’s categorized as “hard” once you get to the final stage… you will know exactly why
  • Don’t forget to bring a large amount of water and a hefty amount of motivational positivity because this trail can test you
  • If you are looking for the best hikes in Belize, in my opinion, this has to be on the list
  • My favorite instrument when it comes to this hike is the intricate design

1. Tears of the Jaguar Fall and Bocawina Falls

  • Difficulty: Hard
  • How to get to Tears of the Jaguar Fall and Bocawina Falls: Go to the exact place where the last trail is except this time go further down the road
  • Duration of hike: The average time it takes to complete this trail is roughly 1 hour and a half
  • Trail length: 3.5 miles
  • Elevation: 593 feet
  • More information: Tears of the Jaguar Fall and Bocawina Falls 
  • This trail doesn’t just have one waterfall, it doesn’t even have 2 waterfalls… this trail has 3 freakin’ waterfalls! How can you miss out on that?
  • Ultimately you must decide but I would recommend not coming here shortly after it rains if you do not take well to muddy environments
  • Ultimately, I chose this trail as number one for my list of top 5 hiking trails in Belize because 3 waterfalls on a short hike is surreal. It helps that this trail is also out of this world. So, in terms of the best hikes in Belize, this is the best in my opinion
  • If you could only make one trail on this list, I’m recommending this hike all-day
