5 – Circular Parque Cerro Juana Lainez

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • How to get to Circular Parque Cerro Juana Lainez: Head South of Tegucigalpa, you will find the entrance to this trail on the road of Paseo Juana Lainez
  • Duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 20 minutes to complete this trail
  • Trail length: 0.9 miles
  • Elevation: 101 feet

  • If you are a beginner when it comes to hiking, this trail is going to be perfect for you considering it’s not only the easiest trail on the list… it’s also one of the easiest trails I have encountered 
  • If you aren’t already interested in this trail just wait, there’s more… This is a loop trail! That’s right, you will be able to check out different scenery throughout the entire hike
  • This could very easily be my favorite trail on the list considering how quick it is, easy it is, and on top of all that, gives you a fabulous 360-degree view of the city of Tegucigalpa

4 – Sendero Las Golondrinas

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • How to get to Sendero Las Golondrinas: For this trailhead North East of Tegucigalpa. The entrance is off of Highway 25 North West of Valle de Ángeles
  • Duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 1 hour and a half to complete this trail
  • Trail length: 2.6 miles
  • Elevation: 761 feet

  • This is another easy trail so if you are newish when it comes to hiking or aren’t willing to go on a massive trek… you will love this trail
  • When it comes to Honduras hiking, there’s an impossibility for me to avoid the recommendation of this trail because it transports you to a different realm of existence
  • If you are a lover of waterfalls similar to myself, I would highly recommend this trail because there’s a wonderful waterfall on this trail

3 – El Merendón Sendero Coca-Cola

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • How to get to El Merendón Sendero Coca-Cola: Head West of San Pedro Sula. You will find the trail directly off of 2A Calle
  • Duration of hike: The average person takes roughly 3 hours to complete this trial
  • Trail length: 4.3 miles
  • Elevation: 1,610 feet

  • This is a more difficult trail built for people that want to take on a bit of a challenge. If you are a new hiker but you are confident, don’t hesitate to give this trail a try 
  • I know what you are thinking… that’s a lot of elevation for not even 4 and a half miles… now while you may be correct, it’s one heck of a trail that packs a lot of beautiful views in that 4-mile journey
  • If you are interested in Honduras hiking, you can’t make a mistake by choosing this trail
  • One of the best attributes when it comes to this trail is that it includes many areas where you can get food and drinks at

2 – Cascada Corralitos Francisco Morazán

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • How to get to Cascada Corralitos Francisco Morazán: The entrance of this trail lies North East of Tegucigalpa off of highway 663 
  • Duration of hike: You will most likely take a bit under an hour to complete this trail
  • Trail length: 1.4 miles
  • Elevation: 341 feet

  • You will have immediate respect and gratitude for this trail… considering it has one of the most elegant waterfalls in the area 
  • Though this is indeed a beauty, it comes with a lot of rocks, literally. On the flip side if you are into rock climbing this will enhance your perspective on it
  • In terms of Honduras hiking, you will probably never forget this trail
  • This trail not only captures a beautiful waterfall but also captures so much beauty that the mountains showcase

1 – Cuevas de Ayasta

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • How to get to Cuevas de Ayasta: Head South of Tegucigalpa off of Highway 5 near Pulperia
  • Duration of hike: This trail takes on average around 50 minutes to complete
  • Trail length: 1.4 miles
  • Elevation: 429 feet

  • If you dig history, you are going to fall in love with this beauty.
  • The ultimate reason in terms of Honduras hiking that I chose to put this as number one for my top 5 best hikes in Honduras is simply because of its breathtaking views. 
  • One thing that can be rather difficult when it comes to this trail is that the directions can seem a bit off and you ultimately may get lost. No big deal though, right?
  • On this trail, you will witness many caves, abandoned houses, and marvelous views
